Turkey

Turkey has been described as “a Paradise waiting to be discovered” and “the Cradle of Civilisation”. It has has two of the Seven Wonders of the World and is the proud possessor of more recognised historical and archaeological sites than any other country in the world - but it is also a thriving modern country with cosmopolitan cities.

Its people are friendly and hospitable, its cuisine is world-class and, as a bonus, its prices are very reasonable!

When visiting you will experience: a family-oriented culture, with children welcome everywhere; a safe country with a low crime rate; fresh produce which is great value (and most items up to 50% cheaper than Britain); and for those of you who like to shop – jewellery, leather goods, rugs, linen etc are all high quality and fantastic value but with the added pleasure of good-humoured bartering (it really is great fun).

Not only does the country exhibit an Eastern Culture (you can still hear the Mosques calling the people to prayer five times a day) but it is very much a secular society with a very laid-back people. It has become a cliché to describe Turkey as the crossroads of Europe and Asia, but it is certainly true, both geographically and culturally.

It is a vast country with varied and constrasting landscapes, from the empty steppes of the eastern provinces to the amazing seascapes, soft beaches and what the guide books call the ‘brooding’ mountains along the Mediterranean coast (they really do provide a lovely, green backdrop to most views, with some snow-capped throughout the year) .
